Whether downloaded movies, holiday photos, or music – with your FRITZ!Box you can conveniently transfer content to the right device in your home network. Devices can include TVs, Wi-Fi speakers and radios, PCs, tablets and smartphones.
The FRITZ!Box media server can do even more: Set up your favourite podcasts and radio stations and listen via the FRITZ!Box media server. Once set up, your FRITZ!Fon becomes the ultimate remote control.
How to set up the FRITZ!Box media server
- Connect: Connect a USB stick or USB hard drive with music, pictures and videos to your FRITZ!Box. FRITZ!OS supports common Windows and Linux file systems; FRITZ!OS 7.50 or later also supports the exFAT file system.
- Activate: Activate the media server in the FRITZ!Box user interface under ‘Home network > Media Server’.
- Enjoy: Play your media files with a UPnP AV or DLNA-enabled player on your TV, mobile phone or PC. The FRITZ!Fon also has an integrated media player and can play music, podcasts or web radio.
Listening to podcasts
If the media server is activated, you can go to the ‘Podcast’ tab in the Media Server and subscribe to your favourite podcasts. From the drop-down menu you can select a preconfigured podcast or add a new one. To do this select ‘Other podcast...’ from the drop-down menu. Just enter the name and URL of the podcast you want to add. You can also choose how often the FRITZ!Box checks for new episodes. Then click on ‘OK’ to save any new podcasts to your list.
You can listen to podcasts with devices or software that support UPnP technology. With the FRITZ!Fon you have full control over your podcasts and you can also listen to the latest episodes on the device of your choice. One feature we particularly like is that the FRITZ!Fon can notify you about new episodes for your podcasts.
