Many families have rules about how much time their children spend online. So it’s helpful to know you can set your FRITZ!Box to limit the times certain users are allowed online. These parental controls can be set up quickly and easily, and devices can be blocked as well if necessary.
Convenience for your guests – peace of mind for you
Your visitors will be happy to use the convenient Wi-Fi guest access to the FRITZ!Box with their own smartphones. You can define what applications are allowed or choose to restrict your guest's internet use to browsing and email.

A time for everything
Different users within a household have different requirements in terms of how often they want to go on the Internet and how long they want to spend online. So decide together on the time limits that apply to each user. Multiple devices, from smartphones to PlayStations, can be assigned to individual people.
Set suitable websites
Decide which sites are appropriate for your kids. For this the FRITZ!Box offers a list of permitted websites. With this list you can influence where your children's surfing takes them. These settings can be individually configured for smartphones and other devices.

Secure guest access
Decide yourself what your guests can and can't do online. You might choose, for example, to allow surfing and email but block applications such as file sharing. You can also block access to certain websites in the usual way.
Block devices when on a video call
Do you want your media player to play music and videos from the FRITZ!Box media server, but not access the internet? Or do you want to temporarily disconnect an otherwise bandwidth-hungry device from the internet so that an important video call while working from home runs smoothly? Or do you have another device that should only be active in your home network, but not on the internet? Nevertheless, you'd still like to install an update on your device?
These, and more, scenarios show that there are many cases where you want to have control over whether a device is allowed to access the internet or not: device locking is the answer.

You can access the device lock feature in the FRITZ!Box user interface under Internet > Filter. Here you can see a table with devices that are registered with the FRITZ!Box. When you click on or tap ‘Lock’, the device no longer has access to the internet. You'll still be able to access other devices in the local home network. To unblock a device, simply click on or tap ‘Unblock‘.
