What is Matter, a Matter bridge and a Matter controller?

Matter is a connectivity standard for the uniform networking and control of smart home devices. In a Matter network (fabric), devices perform different functions. A Matter controller controls smart home devices such as Amazon Alexa, Apple Home or Google Home. A Matter Bridge translates control commands from a Matter controller and forwards them to connected smart home devices, such as DECT ULE or Zigbee devices.

Voice control in the FRITZ! Smart home

With FRITZ!OS 7.63 or later, the FRITZ!Smart Gateway becomes a Matter Bridge. This opens up a realm of new possibilities: Control your FRITZ! Smart Home with Alexa, Siri & co.: Now, it is able to listen to voice commands such as ‘Siri, set the FRITZ! radiator control to 20 degrees’ or ‘Hey Google, open the DECT garage door’. You can also control your smart home using other options on the Matter controller, such as a smart watch.

Or use Matter-compatible sensors to control devices in the FRITZ! Smart Home, such as motion sensors for your FRITZ! lights. With the FRITZ!Smart Gateway as a Matter Bridge, you can experience a completely new, connected, comprehensive smart home. Of course, the extensive automations such as scenes and routines are also available when using the Matter Bridge functionality.
